Engine Specification – Malossi 210 Bodywork or other specialised parts – Malossi kit and pm pipe Cruising Speed and Top Speed — 60 and 80 on a good day Paintwork – Red with ‘Rasher’ from the Beano on Accessories – Rusty grab rail and battle scars Known History of the Vehicle – was one of Stoker’s scoots from a long time ago (1989 ish). Originally came from Milton Keynes. Sold on to Jason ‘Reg’,Redgers, who used it for a while, but then emigrated to Sweden – but left the scooter at his parents’ houses (they moved a few times, and each time had to house the beast for him!). It has not been on the road since about 1992, but now it has been brought back from the dead to be once again thrashed by a slightly younger rebel!! Time taken to build and by who?- Mr. Dan Stokes can have the credit for that Hardest Part of the Project –?
Ask him, but I don’t think he would remember. (Didn’t hardly use it, cos I had an a RD350LC at the same time so that used to get thrashed instead!! DS) Overall Cost (time and money) approx. Overall Cost that you have told your wife – Cheaper than most of scooters owned Incoming search terms:. Start by loosening the rear cylinder down tube bolt located on the top of the old mufflers center collector in front of the rear tire. Remove both of the front cylinder exhaust pipe head nuts and set them to the side for reuse with the MAC exhaust system. Remove the right side passenger’s foot peg.
Set the foot peg aside as you will need to reinstall it. Remove the left side passenger’s foot peg. Set this foot peg aside as it will also need to be reinstalled.
Note: When you remove this bolt the entire exhaust system will be loose and may fall. You will need to support the old exhaust at this point to keep from injuring yourself. Gently move the old exhaust system side to side to remove it from the rear cylinder down tube. Renault manual clio 4 2017 cena. Once the exhaust system is loose from the down tube remove the system from under the Virago.
Remove the bolt holding the rear brake pedal in place and remove the brake pedal from the motorcycle. Note: Set both the bolt and the pedal aside for reinstallation.
Next loosen the nut on the drivers right foot peg, 1 full turn to start with. Then remove the rear nut on the same foot peg. (Note: The bolt that this nut is on goes completely through the motorcycle. This is the center stand mounting bolt.) Now remove the front nut and set both aside for reuse with the MAC system.
Install the center stand stop bracket under the left passenger foot peg. Install this bracket with the 90° bend facing down and towards the rear tire. (Note: Center stand sop bracket in provided in the hardware kit and is approx. 5″ long with a 90° bend in it.) Adjust the bracket by one of the large bolts through the foot peg then through the bracket and then install it into the stock location.
Put on one of the washers and a nut and snug up the nut. Lower the center stand until the center stand come in to contact with the bottom of the bracket. Tighten the nut until it will hold the bracket securely. Install the rear down tube clamp onto the rear muffler and install the medium sized nut/bolt/washer onto the clamp just finger tight. Install the (2) small bolts into the channel bracket on the rear muffler. Install the rear mounting bracket onto the two bolts and then install the washers and nuts onto each.
Tighten the (2) nuts only slight amount so that you can slide the bracket front to rear to insure that when you install the bracket you position it properly. Slide the rear pipe onto the rear down tube about ¼”to ¾” past the pre-cut slots on the rear muffler pipe. Slightly snug the clamp making sure that the position of the bolt and nut will not interfere with any moving parts.
The final position of this bolt can hit the tire if it is not positioned properly. Install the other large bolt into the right passenger and then through the top hole in the rear muffler mounting bracket.
Insert the bolt into the stock location and install the washer and the nut. Align the rear muffler and you can then tighten the nuts on the rear muffler mounting bracket, the cylinder down tube and the right side passenger foot peg. Install the front muffler on the rear most mounting bolt of the drivers foot peg and put the stock nut back onto the bolt. Hand tighten the bolt only at this time. Note: Install the nut at this time is only to support the muffler and to insure that the pipe does not fall on the ground while you complete the next step. Lift the front head pipe into position and start the stock nuts onto the studs. It is strongly recommended that you install new exhaust gasket at this time.
Note: The new exhaust gaskets are not included in the kit but are available at your local Yamaha Dealer. After gaskets are installed hand tighten the front head pipe. Remove the nut from the drivers foot peg bolt and reinstall the drivers foot peg. Note: Hand tighten only at this time. Finish tightening the nuts on the front head pipes. (Install these nuts according to Yamaha’s Factory specifications.) Once the nuts are tightened on the head pipe you can then tighten the drivers foot peg nuts.
Reinstall the rear brake pedal and tighten the bolt that holds it on to factory specifications. Check all of the bolts that you have installed of removed to insure that they are tight. Start the motorcycle and check for any leaks. You are finished with your new MAC Exhaust System. Incoming search terms:. Throttle linkage with no cable modification. S&S Super E and G carb kits for 1936 to 1989 Big Twins contain a throttle cable guide (11-2339) designed for butterfly type throttle cables, and kits for 1990 and later Big Twins contain a taller throttle cable guide (11-2338) designed for CV type throttle cables. See Picture 2. The two throttle cable guides are interchangeable on the carburetor body, and can be changed very easily to update older carburetors or to accommodate custom throttle cables which are not stock for a particular year chassis. 1981 to Present Sportster Models Stock Sportster models from 1981 to 1987 have two cable throttle system designed for butterfly type carburetors. Sportsters from 1988 to present have a two cable throttle system designed for use with the stock constant velocity (CV) type carburetor. Since the taller #11-2338 cable guide bracket can not be used on a Sportster chassis due to insufficient frame clearance, throttle cables on Sportsters originally equipped with a CV type carburetor must be changed to butterfly style cables.
S&S can supply the correct style throttle cables. Drum warped. Replace drum (Chapter 7). Drum brake cable out of adjustment or stretched.
Adjust or replace the cable (see Chapters 1 and 7). STEERING, SUSPENSION AND FINAL DRIVE GENERAL INFORMATION The steering system on these models consists of a one-piece braced handlebar and a steering head attached to the front portion of the frame. The steering stem rides in upper ball bearings and lower tapered roller bearings (early YZ80 models) or tapered roller bearings (all other models). The front suspension uses one of three basic designs: damper rod, bottom cartridge, or top cartridge. The rear suspension consists of a single shock absorber with concentric coil spring, a swingarm and progressive rising rate suspension linkage. The suspension linkage causes the suspension to stiffen as its travel increases.
This allows a softer ride over small bumps in the terrain, together with firmer suspension control over large irregularities. HANDLEBARS REMOVAL, INSPECTION AND INSTALLATION (Refer to illustrations 2.3a and 2.3b). The handlebars rest in brackets on top of the upper triple clamp. If the handlebars must be removed for access to other components, such as the steering head bearings, simply remove the bolts and take the handlebars off the bracket. It is not necessary to disconnect the throttle or clutch cables, brake hose or the kill switch wires, but it is a good idea to support the assembly with a piece of wire or rope, to avoid unnecessary strain on the cables. If the handlebars are to be removed completely, refer to Chapter 2 for the clutch lever removal procedure, Chapter 4 for the throttle housing removal procedure, Chapter 5 for the kill switch removal procedure and Chapter 7 for the brake master cylinder removal procedure. Remove the upper bracket bolts, lift off the brackets and remove the handlebars (see illustration).
On 1989 through 1993 YZ125 and YZ250 models, the lower brackets can be removed from the triple clamp if necessary. To do this, remove the bracket nuts from below and lift the brackets out (see illustration).
